Acid Wash Temperature Reduction

Small Changes, Big Results

Leprino has recently advanced its quality, food safety, and environmental sustainability efforts through an innovative collaboration with Hydrite, its long-standing and trusted chemical supplier.

Hydrite has been optimizing our Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems using its groundbreaking Soil Load Mapping (SLM) technology. SLM is a hardware solution that quantifies the cleaning process to reduce time, energy, and water. This cutting-edge solution effectively determines removal of proteins and minerals while optimizing acid wash temperatures leading to reductions in natural gas consumption.

The SLM technology was successfully implemented at Leprino’s Fort Morgan facility and is now being deployed across additional locations. Once fully rolled out, the project is projected to save three million Therms of natural gas annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by 16,000 metric tons and delivering over $1 million in yearly energy savings.

This initiative highlights the power of strong, collaborative relationships in driving meaningful progress and exemplifies Leprino’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and long-term value creation in partnership with key suppliers.
