Community Involvement

One of our five Global Responsibility categories is to connect with and strengthen our communities. Our approach combines companywide efforts with employee-driven initiatives at each of our locations. Close coordination and collaboration with the Leprino Foods Company Foundation helps amplify the positive impact of our contributions.

Company Support

Leprino Foods makes direct charitable contributions at the company level. The company also provides each location with an annual budget enabling them to determine the best ways to give back.

Community impact teams

Each location has a Community Impact Team comprised of passionate employee volunteers. These volunteers make an impact by:

  • Organizing location-sponsored events and activities to promote employee volunteerism and a spirit of giving
  • Identifying, engaging with and supporting nonprofits with the Foundation’s grant application process
  • Serving as Leprino Foods ambassadors

Leprino Foods Company Foundation

The Foundation drives positive change in our communities through grants to nonprofit organizations that align with its pillars of support. The Foundation is a private nonprofit established in 2015. The Foundation’s coordination on grant making with the Community Impact Teams at each location is a cornerstone of our community giving.

Month of Impact

During Leprino’s annual Month of Impact in September, team members at all locations dedicate their efforts to support local communities. They achieve this by coordinating events like food drives, contributing donations, and actively participating in volunteer work. The key areas of focus for these activities include Nutrition, Fitness, Education, Local Needs, and Sustainability.

Company Performance

In 2022, Leprino launched a companywide Month of Impact to engage employees companywide around a common theme, such as nutrition, fitness, education, local needs and sustainability, benefitting the communities where we operate. Held in the month of September, it’s a continuation of our year-round efforts.

Industry Education

We support dairy industry education and careers through several partnerships and collaborations.

  • Higher education partnerships and sponsorships, including endowed faculty teaching positions and funding for dairy science research, at the following academic institutions: California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo | California State University, Fresno | Colorado State University | New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology | South Dakota State University | Texas Tech University | University of Wisconsin-Madison | Utah State University
  • Academic scholarship funding through Leprino Foods Dairy Science FFA Scholarship
  • Employee attendance at career fairs
  • Internships at several of our locations

Leprino Foods Company Foundation

Leprino Foods has long been invested in the communities in which we operate. In 2015, to extend our philanthropic reach, we established the Leprino Foods Company (LFC) Foundation, a private nonprofit entity to support and advance the success of the communities where our company and employees are most active.

How the Foundation Works

The LFC Foundation drives positive change in our communities by leveraging time, talent and resources to improve education, nutrition, fitness and local needs. Grants are awarded exclusively to nonprofit organizations in support of charitable, educational and scientific collaborations that align with our focus areas of fitness, nutrition, education and local needs.

2023 Highlights

Leprino Hosts Student Internships

Several high school interns were hosted at the Denver Corporate office as part of Girls Inc. and the Arrupe Jesuit High School’s Work Study Program.

Denver Pizzas Donated To Those In Need

Since August, a small group of volunteers has been re-purposing a portion of Denver test kitchen pizzas by preparing them for donation to We Don’t Waste, a local food rescue logistics organization. In just a few months, approximately 450 pizzas have been donated, feeding more than a thousand people in the area.

Month of Impact Continues from 2022

Building on last year’s focus on nutrition, the 2023 Month of Impact provided opportunities and encouraged volunteerism focused on sustainability.
